MYKONOS

Last weekend we decided to have a spontaneous girls trip to Mykonos, I booked my flight in the morning and by 2pm I was at the airport, bags packed and ready to fly. My friend had already spent a few days in Mykonos, and decided to extend her trip a little longer. We stayed until Monday and it was the most magical mini vacay.

We checked into Cavo Tagoo Mykonos  which is pretty much like living in paradise, the most beautiful views stretching miles across the sea with white washed walls, wind swept waters and sunsets to die for. Walking through Cavo Tagoo each day I constantly had to pinch myself. We stayed in the golden suite which was perfection.

Our weekend was packed with adventures and crazy transfers (minibus rides) from the hotel. We went down to Nammos , which is a picturesque beach known to the rich and famous ; that pull in on their super yachts while beautiful people stroll around in tiny bikinis. As we love to swim, we stayed in the sea for most of the day, had lunch and a couple of Aperol Spritz, met some friends and hung out until the sun sank.

The next day, after having the best buffet breakfast (which I forgot my camera always to take pictures of) we headed down to Alemagou which is a bohemian beach club and an amazing lunch spot. Eveyrthing is very rustic and dusty but really beautifully decorated. We then headed through to Scorpios  (Paraga beach) for a couple of drinks and watched the sun sleep and danced amongst the stars.  Scorpios itself is in the most amazing location situated on the rocks with a gorgeous interior and opposite to Santanna; which I wish we had time to spend there, they have a huge pool and incredible interior too.

During the evenings we walked through the old town, which is all cobble stones and tiny exclusive boutiques. The bouganvillias were one of our favourite things to see. One thing about mykonos is the energy is electric, everyone is happy, outside and appreciative of life. Hanging around small bars, or late night drinks after a huge greek meal, what better way than to walk everywhere right?

 Things to do in  M y k o n o s  /  μύκονος

1. First and for most book early - for hotels, for transfers and especially for restauarnts

2. Nammos beach club + restaurant  -its pretty $$$ but well worth every cent spent

 3. Try seafood restaurants -  A few recommended asian infused restaurants would be : Kiku, which was at our hotel and buddha bar, the rest of the time we ate at small little hidden restaurants found in the old town

4. Go for cocktails - pretty much anywhere in mykonos, they all seem to have the best cocktails our favourite is always aperol spritz though.

5. Shop in the old town, there are many small streets that you can wander around for ages and the most beautiful boutiques, the alley ways are like a maze but worth exploring

6. Try as many beach clubs as possible, people come from far and wide to see Mykonos, not only for the sunsets and parties but for the incredible beachclubs lined up for the rich and famous on their yachts or a group of young travellers spending their last bit of money to experience the high life  - Nammos beach/ Psarou Beach , Alemagou beach club , Scorpios (fab for afternoon drinks and a party) , or any of the small local beaches, you'll find people strolling around selling donuts, crochet dresses or floaties.

7. Shop at the beach club bazaars or boutiques, they all have the most beautiful selections of kimonos and jewelry, sandals and are al curated to make you feel like you shoud never leave.

8.  Take a hundred pictures but remember to live in the moment too
